Well the truth is we really don’t know yet!
Scientists have been researching other metals for centuries and found loads of really important uses for them: in magnets, as building materials, as catalysts, as drugs etc.
But the technology and the laboratory techniques needed to work safely with air sensitive and radioactive metals like uranium hasn’t existed for very long. Research into its properties is at quite an early stage compared to other metals, so we’re not completely sure what we’re going to find!

My research is about taking waste uranium, turning it into brand new types of molecules and seeing if these new molecules have interesting properties- quite often they do!
