I think the main difference is that the further you go with science, the less certainty you have and you have to be more creative/imaginative.
You go to school to learn about facts, about how things work.
Then you go to university and learn that many people disagreed with various facts and everything can be criticised or challenged.
Then you work in science and you have to figure out the answers yourself (which is great by the way!) and it’s kinda ok if you not sure/fail an experiment, because – hey – no one in the world knows the answer yet!
We can do things in the lab today that I wouldn’t have even been able to imagine from my classroom science lessons. I think real world science is very different to classroom science that focuses on learning the facts rather than conducting real investigations.
That said, all of the scientists of today started out learning classroom science with old equipment and rely on the solid grounding in science that it gave us, so it is very worthwhile.
Theyre not different as they are both still science! I guess in the real world often there isnt an answer, where as in the classroom the result will be known!
