I think they will last for the next 30 years or so but we cannot completely use them up as that will compromise the earth.

The fossil fuel that we rely on most heavily is oil. Scientists think that we’ve got enough oil to burn for energy until about 2090- which isn’t really that far away. We also need to remember that we really need that oil to make things like plastics and pharmaceutical drugs- so we really need to save as much as we can.

I think wherever you are you can save energy (and therefore fossil fuels) by encouraging your family and friends to eat less meat. Meat production uses huge amounts of energy compared to growing crops and fruit and vegetables and currently most people eat more than they need. In my opinion that’s a pretty good, simple way to save a lot of energy, that not many people think about.

Hello! Mzamo is right -we cannot use them up!

We don’t know for sure how much is left as this is quite a sensitive information for oil companies. Also, there are some potential resources in the ground – but since we haven’t diggged there yet, we do not know for sure.

the estimates for petrol are about 50years and coal maybe for 200+ years!

We need to replace them as soon as possible with renewables !
