        I start by thinking about exactly what I want to make and often have to read up a bit on how other scientists have made things that are similar.
        Once you’ve worked out the reaction pathway that should give you what you want it’s often a case of trying those reactions at different temperatures, in different solvents etc. until you get the conditions just right.
