      When I said I wanted to do a PhD (a 3 year research degree that earns you the title of ‘doctor’) I think my parents were a bit concerned that another 3 years of being s student and not earning much money would be a bit difficult for me when my friends that went straight into work after university started earning quite a bit of money.
      Once they saw that I was happy and doing what I loved they were very supportive though- they always read my scientific papers even though they dont really understand 🙂
